My Favorite Books of 2012...so far.

Oh my goodness gracious! I am a terrible blogger. Gawd awful horrible. To say the least. But then again, I only have about 2.5 people that actually read this darn thing. And 2 of those people I see on a somewhat regular basis anyway, or at the very least exchange text messages with every few days. You know, we communicate.

So...I guess I'm just checking in with the other .5 people to say how happy I am that Summer FINALLY arrived here in the Pacific Northwest.  It has been a rain-soaked, dreary, pull-your-hair-out-if-you-check-the-weather-report couple of months. The sun is FINALLY shining...as I sit on the floor and stare at it out the window while I type this.  Guess I'm more of Fall gal, anyway.

The only thing I've been able to accomplish so far this summer is my plan to read like a mad woman! And it's full steam ahead on that front. I've been reading non-stop! My goal for the year is to get through 30 books and I'm just a little over half way there. If you're looking for any good book recommendations to get you through the next couple months left of Summer (or if you live in Washington, the next two days left of Summer), then stop right there! You've found my list. But of course, you're going to have to keep reading to see it, so never mind about the stopping.

A few months ago I Googled "if you love the Hunger Games you'll love..." and I found, well, a   google of books that I have been LOVING! Mostly YA (that's young adult in lay man's terms) dystopian romance trilogies and a few naughty novels (see Fifty Shades of Grey. Oh, you've never heard of it? Ah. I see. You live under a rock). So here's just a little look into what's been on my virtual book shelf the last few months.  If you don't already have a Good Reads account, you should. If you're an avid reader, like me, it hooks you up with book recommendations and reviews and you can even join online book clubs! It's basically facebook for reading nerds.

Without further ado, here's my list of 2012's most fabulous reads. Enjoy! :)

Divergent by Veronica Roth
and it's sequel
I adored both of these books. Only bad thing: the final book in the trilogy doesn't come out until Fall of 2013. Ugh. That is pure torture.

Delirium by Lauren Oliver
and its sequel
OMG. I must say I am head over heels in love with this series. Which would be illegal if I lived in the society of Delirium. Love is a disease in the story and it's just as intriguing as it sounds.
The last book comes out March 5, 2013. My birthday. Coincidence? Well, yes of course. But I'll just pretend it's a special present just for me.

Matched by Allie Condie
and it's sequel
Beautifully written, if not entirely action packed. Look for the final book, Reached, to hit shelves this November.

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
This book is the start of another great trilogy, with the next one out sometime in 2013. Funny story. The moment after I finished reading this book, which I adored, I went on the website to see when the sequel would be released and, low and behold, the author was doing a book signing that very day at a local bookstore in town. So, I went and got my book signed just a few hours after I finished reading it. It was pretty cool.
And yes, I'm a total geek.

Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi
This book touched my heart. I had to read the last paragraph about 100 times before I decided to just put the book down, Jamie, and walk away. It gave me goosebumps. In a good way. Can't wait for the next one, out January 8, 2013

Of Poseidon by Anna Banks
I'm currently reading this book, which I believe will be a trilogy, as well. It's a breath of fresh air considering the other books on this list are kind of heavy and people suffer and die and whatnot. This read is a lot lighter and laced with humor. I always love when a book can make me laugh out loud. Ms. Banks was one of the authors present at the book signing I went to, and she was super funny in person, so I purchased a copy of her book to get signed as well.  Actually, I purchased all 6 authors' books to get signed that day.
Yup. Dork.

Well, I hope you like some of my recommendations, .5 people who read my blog.  And if you get around to reading any, shoot me a comment. I'd love to know what you think.

Hope your Summer is totally awesome! See you next Fall! :)
xoxo

  1. Thanks for the recommendations! I haven't read any of those. Yet. :-) I just started Outlander, which has been out forever but I've never read. It's super long so it's going to take me a while!!
